Our History
Holland Mulch, Inc. is a family owned and operated wholesale, retail and recycling center. The company has been in business since 1994. We specialize in recycling green waste to make a variety of premium decorative mulch products. We pride ourselves on having the finest quality product for the best possible price. We carry a variety of dyed mulches, screened topsoil and fill dirt, decorative and quarry stone. We are also a premier distributor of Cambridge pavers.
John Duffy Sr. was inspired to start Holland Mulch in his 40’s when he came across a new job opportunity. A major electrical generation company tasked him with getting rid of 50,000 yards of wood chips a year. He found a property in Claymont, Delaware and got to work recycling the chips. In 1996 he outgrew his first property and quickly found one better suited for their growing operation. Throughout the growth of the company, his son John Duffy Jr. has overseen and increased the production and products offered. As time went on they took time to understand the products and get familiar with the mulch and soil processes. By 2000, the business outgrew the second lot and he found a new property, which is today’s main location on Hay Road in Edgemoor Delaware. Eventually, they opened a location on S. Chapel Street in Newark, Delaware to better serve the southern customers of Delaware and northern Maryland.
What started as a few piles of chips, turned into a full production of mulch & soil. Today with help of his son, John Duffy Jr. they have established a firm foundation in the landscape industry. Today they manufacture 9 types of mulch as well as soil in-house. They also carry over 10 options for decorative stone and are a premier supplier for Cambridge Pavers. Holland Mulch is open to the public, they offer green waste recycling drop off services to landscapers & homeowners.
